About Apply FAQ Updates

Privacy notice

What we collect, and why.

For applicants to the Brook Church-Koegel Scholarship. Last updated October 12, 2026.

1. Who this notice covers

This notice applies to anyone who applies to the Brook Church-Koegel Scholarship, emails the program, or is selected as a recipient. The program is funded personally and administered by Brook Church-Koegel (the "Sponsor"). Reading this website without applying does not ask you for any information; the site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics. The service that hosts these pages may keep standard technical logs to run and secure the site.

2. What the application collects

The application form collects only what the program needs to read your essay, confirm eligibility, and reach you:

  • Your name and email address.
  • The college or university you attend, whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student, your program or field of study, and your expected graduation year.
  • Your essay (500 to 800 words), typed into the form, with the option of attaching it as a PDF.
  • Your confirmation that you have read the official rules and this notice.

If you email the program, we keep the email and whatever you chose to include in it. If you are selected, we also collect confirmation of your enrollment from your school and the details needed to pay the award and to report it where tax law requires.

3. What the application never asks for

The application does not ask for a GPA or transcript, a student ID number, a home address or phone number, a photograph, a professional profile, family income, a FAFSA or Student Aid Report, bank details, or a Social Security number. Only the selected recipient is later asked for the details needed to confirm enrollment, pay the award, and meet tax-reporting rules; the notification explains exactly what those are. If a website asking an applicant for any of the items above claims to be this scholarship, it is not.

4. How we use it

  • To run the Scholarship: reading essays, confirming eligibility, selecting a recipient, contacting them, confirming enrollment, and paying the award.
  • To reply when you write to us.
  • To publish the recipient's name on the Updates page, only with the recipient's written consent.
  • To keep the records the law requires about an award that was paid.

Application information is not used for marketing, is not sold, is not shared with advertisers, and is not used to offer any product or service. Applying does not create a business relationship with the Sponsor or with any company he is associated with.

5. Who sees it

Applications are submitted through the program's online form, which is hosted on the program's WordPress platform; that form is the only place the program accepts applications. The form service stores the submission and delivers it to the Sponsor and the reviewers he designates. If your college or a scholarship directory lists this award and you give information to that site, its own privacy policy governs that information, and none of it reaches us. We share information outside the program only with your school (to confirm enrollment, if you are selected), with a bank or payment provider (to pay the award), and when the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

Applications that are not selected are deleted within twelve months after the cycle's recipient is announced. Records about the recipient and the paid award are kept for the period that tax and other legal rules require, then deleted. Emails are kept while we are dealing with them and deleted afterward on the same schedule.

7. Winner publicity

If you are selected, we will ask you in writing what, if anything, you want published: your name, your school, a photo, an excerpt from your essay. You can say no to all of it and still receive the full award. You can also withdraw consent later, and we will remove the material from the site within a reasonable time.

8. Your choices

  • See what we hold. Email us and we will tell you what information we have about you.
  • Correct it. If your contact details change before the announcement, email us so the notification reaches you.
  • Delete it or withdraw. Email us to have your information deleted. Deleting an application before the deadline withdraws it; you may apply again in a later cycle.

Requests go to info@alphacap.co. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting.

9. Applicants under 18

The Scholarship is for enrolled college and university students. If you are under 18 when you apply, email us first so we can tell you whether a parent or guardian needs to sign anything.

10. Changes to this notice

If this notice changes, the new version is posted here with a new "last updated" date. A change that affects information already submitted for an open cycle will be emailed to the applicants it affects.
